Universal Design for Learning

Read this overview article about digital media and UDL from www.cast.org

Center for Applied Special Technology, CAST, is a non-profit organization that uses the principles of UDL in their contributions to educational products, classroom practices, and policies.

The CAST website gives a clear definition of the UDL approach to learning with their three primary principles. The first principle is to have multiple means of representation, to give diverse learners options for acquiring information and knowledge. The second principle is to have multiple means of action and expression, to provide learners options for demonstrating what they know. The third principle is to have multiple means of engagement, to tap into learners' interests, offer appropriate challenges, and increase motivation.
